Your Planet Needs You

The books finally finished and with the printers, heres a couple of pages, one being the front cover a deflating inflatable globe with a bit of photoshop work, and a 1940's inspired illustration to illustrate the minefield of buying strawberrys, if only we knew, well we do now.

I'm a big fan of advertising from the 40's and 50's - the cheesey american adworld characters, in a recent design job I have created a montage to use on my clients website, I will publish a link here when its done. Here's the montage.

Phil Turner Freelance Designer, I've just been asked to show some samples of my fmcg packaging design concepts and finished packs, packaging design is enjoyable and a great challenge to find the right design to fit in with the norm or standout from the crowd, to standout fron the crowd is easy you might think but to do it with style takes some thought. Corporate guidelines can ruin a range of packaging or can enhance it - it all depends who's pulling the strings.

This is my first blog and and an attempt to discuss what has been one of my best six months working as a freelance graphic designer - I was asked to design a book called Your Planet Needs you, and after about six months the book is 'nearly' ready for print. I intend to post some of the illustrations I have produced for the book on this site along with an explanation, more to follow........... http://www.yourplanetneedsyou.org.... the website will be worked on after the book is finished. After a few postings on the Association of Illustrators website we have had a tremendous response from illustrators all over the world and some of their work has gone into the book - illustrating the various topics and chapters in the book I hope to post their work here as well as on the official site.

Freelance Design Saving The Planet

Working as an Art Director for quite a few years as well as a designer I have worked on a wide range of products, designed packaging, advertised cars, promoted products and pursuaded potential customers to buy something they dont really need, none of this work had any impact on my choices as a consumer until now - I've been working on a book " Your Planet Needs You" that has changed the way I think about the world and the people in it, I'm not going to turn into an eco - warrior but I would and will recommend that you read the book and think about the difference we could all make with very little effort
